Founded in Buffalo, New York, USA, in 1919, Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.
ZONTA OBJECTIVES
- To improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local level through service and advocacy.
- To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions.
- To promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement service programs, and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations, and the world.
Susanne von Bassewitz is the 2018-2020 President of Zonta International and the Zonta International Foundation.
Susanne von Bassewitz is the 2018-2020 President and CEO of Zonta International and the Zonta International Foundation. In 2012, she developed Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women, a campaign that has grown every year since and continues today. She started to work on women’s issues when preparing for her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in mass communications research, Roman languages and philosophy. She is a communications consultant with more than 25 years of experience in corporate communications and brand management and worked for major international and publicly held corporations as Director and Vice President of Public Relations. In addition to her professional endeavors and 25-year long involvement with Zonta International, she has been a frequent lecturer with a focus on communications management at German universities.
